Woodpeckers are not flock birds, rather selfish and stubborn - typical loners.

They usually live singly or in pairs in forests,

Tree plantings and gardens.

They occupy a territory and do not tolerate intruders.

 

Hatched young woodpeckers fledge after 20 - 23 days and then have to find their own territories.

  • Mount this woodpecker dummy as close as possible to the affected areas (woodpecker holes). The woodpecker signals to all other members of the species that this territory is already occupied.

    If several parts of the building are affected, it is recommended to install several woodpecker dummies.

    However, it should be noted that there is no visual contact between the woodpecker dummies.

     

    Since this woodpecker dummy is a silhouette, it is possible that, depending on the viewing angle, little of it can be seen. In order to prevent woodpecker damage above or below this dummy, it is advantageous to attach it at a slight angle.

    This ensures that this dummy is also perceived from below or above.
